Put each necklace in a small "Glad" bag. You can zip it up and see through the plastic to find the color you want. It also prevents all the strings of beads from tangling. *There is also another way. I own a bead store. What we do is take plastic bags and cut strips out of them. This creates a "loop" of plastic. Take the loop thru all of the strands you want grouped. Then either tie the strip (most secure) or loop the strip thru itself, much like you would hook two rubberbands together. Once you have these groups tied you can then pick them up by the tie strip. Sometimes we even loop a strip thru the small groups to create a larger group. We have been using this method for many years. You can also cut strips of paper, slip them thru the strands you want grouped and staple the band around the groups. Have fun at Mardi Gras
The tradition of throwing beads during Mardi Gras parades dates back to the 1920s. Each parade is put on by a krewe, and the Rex krewe began the tradition of "throws" by tossing out inexpensive glass beads necklaces to entice the crowds. Catching the beads at Mardi Gras became an instant crowd pleaser.
There is no exact amount of bags of beads you need when riding in a parade. For Mardi Gras, some think that thousands of dollars worth of beads or about 10 or more garbage bags full would be enough.

Mardi Gras beads are made by first manufacturing a plastic mold. Plastic is injected into the mold, then the color is added. The beads are then allowed to dry and mold is removed. They are manufactured in China.
Beads
A mardi gras necklace is made of small plastic beads that are joined together on a medium-long string. The beads are painted metallic purple, green, or gold.
Mardi gras beads can easily become tangled if not careful. One is suggested to place them individually in small baggies and store them in a dry and airtight space.
