ANSWER Payment arrangements for medical bills have gotten tricky. Many hospitals now use collection agencies. Most will work with you. Say you owe $12,000.00. If you agree to pay $100.00 per month, they pretty much leave you alone because they're getting something on a regular basis. HOWEVER if you miss one or two months, they consider you in default and will persue you like crazy. So if you make a payment schedule, make sure it's one you can STICK TO and never miss a payment. That's my best advice..........<<<ADR>>>
Not if you are making your payments.
unpaid collection on medical bills can possibly be reported on bureau, but payment history is not reported.
No. Overdue medical bills, like other debts incurred, can appear on a person's credit report, especially if they go into collections.
Medical bills are almost always a written agreement. In Texas the limit is set at four years.
Yes of course
Usually the main timeframe is 7 years. One thing to do is don't make payment arrangements because then it starts all over again. I'm not sure if hospitals bills are different. Sorry.
No unless you specifically guarantee payment.
A medical bill would be a written agreement. In California they have set the limitation at 4 years.
Yes, an account can still be sent to collections even if you are making monthly payments. If the payments are not meeting the agreed terms or if the creditor believes the account is at risk of defaulting, they may send it to collections to recover the debt. It's important to communicate with your creditor and try to negotiate a manageable payment plan to avoid the account being sent to collections.
Yes. The creditor is not required to accept a payment arrangement, and at any time may transfer the debt to inside collections, or an outside collection agency. (For non-credit card debts)
forever!
