You can adjust the idle from the throttle body. Replacing the throttle body might have accidentally change the idle speed. The idle speed adjustment screw can be turned either way to raise or lower the idle.

yes you can replace it. i have replaced many engines and i know you can replace that.

I had the same problem. My solution was the coil was arcing (more with high humidity) and had to be replaced. Take the cowl off to view your engine look for arcing on the coil. Its a tough DIY job as you have to disconnect throttle linkage. Take it to a shop $150 bucks is what it cost me. Astroman

This is a major repair and requires a skilled mechanic. You have to take the head off. and replace the gasket and get it put back on properly. Unfortunately, something made the gasket blow and once you get the engine apart you will likely see that the rings and pistons are worn and the valves need regrinding , etc, etc. I do not know about the Astro Van, but you may have to take the engine. If so, this is a major job , requiring some kind of hoist, in itself, as is putting it back in. You might do better by selling the car for parts.
