Yes it seems a little strange but you need to appreciate that while the human eye has sensors sensitive to Red Blue and Green wave lengths of light, the brain is responsible for your visual experience.
A great deal of research has been done to explain and understand how human vision and the visual experience works (this was needed so that we could and make color printers and televisions).
