It would take about 30 days, because if you go up 3 and down 2, you are left with 1.
Umm...you aren't out of the well till the elevation is greater than 30 feet, in other words, 31 feet or more.
So on day 1 you gained 3 ft
on day 2 you start at 1 ft and gain 3 ft = 4 ft
on day 3 you start at 2 ft and gain 3 ft = 5 ft
on day 4... = 6 ft
on day 5... = 7 ft
day...6...7...8...9...10...11...12...13...14...15...16...17...18...19...
20...21...22...23...24...25...26...27...
on day 28 you start at 27 ft and gain 3 ft = 30 ft (almost there)
on day 29 you start at 28 ft and gain 3 ft = 31 ft (and you are out of there)
