Your job is tough - you must unemotionally critique whether behaviour is worse as a result of drug introduction, or due to some other external thing that is affecting behaviour, e.g. stress, family interactions, etc. Keep "scientific" notes of better and worse behaviours, and discuss frequency/intensity with your son's doctors. I know if this were me, I would immediately suspect that the new drug is destabilizing my Bipolar disorder. However, since I have gained somw benefits from Seroquel, I would choose to start at a lower dose and increase only very gradually, perhaps dosing only at night time... easy as she goes. Your son's condition is unique to HIM. There will be times that an option taken is the wrong one, and that is just the facts. Make your observation, take careful notes and learn from mistakes. You will know - possibly even before your son is aware - when things are improving. Best of luck, Angela Vallee seroquel is an anti-psycotic, and can cause angry outbursts and even psychotic episodes in people who are not psychotic.
i was on both and i had no adverse side effects. however the seroquel can cause extreme drowsiness
Just deal with it like i do! -Catherine
i have been on seroquel for years and the only side effect is it doesnt help me sleep anymore at 800mg
Seroquel is an antipsychotic. It is generally used to treat schizophrenia or the manic effects of bipolar disorder. It works by changing the action of certain chemicals on the brain. People who don't require it should not take it. It won't produce any desired effects if you are taking it to "get high"
made me fall asleep sitting up
umm if your taking 1200mg of seroquel and your not passing right out, you might want to switch to some immediate release seroquel, sounds like you are on the XR.
Yes you can. I take 400 mg seroquel and 300 mg bupropion daily and I feel fine. However, both medications lower the threshold for seizures. When you take them together, this means that the chance that you will have an epileptic seizure will be bigger. Be careful with alcohol.
They are very different drugs. Seroquel is an anti-psychotic, whereas Valium is a benzodiazepine. both drugs can cause sedation, but generally they aren't interchangable, as they have substantially different effects.
You failed to mention what the 'bowel trouble' was. Seroquel (dibenzothiazepine) is a medication prescribed for acute mania in bipolar 1 disorder. One of seroquel's side-effects is constipation and heartburn (reflux). So, it would be in your best interest to discuss the matter with your psychiatrist.
None listed on the manufacturers PIL or SPC leaflets. I take 600mg Seroquel daily and since then I seem to have an increase in desire and a profound increase in the intensity of orgasm.
SEROQUEL is an atypical antipsychotic, used for bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia mainly. it is not an opiate or a Barbituate. but, it can act like a barbituate due to the sedation effects of seroquel. It doesnt really show up on drug tests either..but clonazapam and other antidepressants do show up.
No. Suboxone contains Bupenorphine and Naloxone, which is most often used for opiate withdrawal. Seroquel contains Quetiapine, which is an atypical antipsychotic. They are extremely different drugs with very different uses and effects.
