If your friend rejected your Facebook friend request a long long time ago should you request them again?

If you want to. If you are still friends with them I don't see why not. But if they rejected you for a reason, don't bother.
To add to the above good advice, it is possible they did not see the request, or were busy at that time and forgot about it, or they do not log on to Facebook often.
On the other hand, like many of us, they might prefer to share their Facebook (and their MSN) with family only, and they seldom use it, so think twice before offering a second invitation, since many people are not interested in the trivial affairs of dozens of people, and are especially not interested in receiving second-hand junk mail and invitations to join things.
