If your fabric is 45" wide then I would go for a yard (36"): cut three (3) 10" strips from selvage edge to selvage edge; then cut each strip into five (5) 8" lengths. This all depends upon if your fabric has a nap or pattern. If you need to reverse the lay out, then: cut four (4) 8" strips from selvage edge to selvage ddge; then cut each strip into rour (4) 10" lengths, leaving one extra.

Can you use semisweet chocolate squares in a recipe that calls for cocoa?

Yes

Can you use unsweetened chocolate squares in a reicpe that calls for semisweet chocolate squares?

You can, but you will not like the result. It will be bitter and you really cannot add enough sugar to compensate for it.

How many yards in a roll of fabric that has a width of 44?

Rolls or bolts of fabric come in various lengths depending on the manufacturer and the dealers specifications. Generally, in retail fabric stores, the bolts are in 10 yard lengths and each bolt will have the dimensions listed on the end of the bolt. By the way, the width has nothing to do with the amount of fabric on the bolt. Fabric widths vary depending on the type of fabric and the manufacturer, anywhere from 35" up to 120".

What length should your knitting needles be?

How much fabric is needed to make a size 2 dress?

It depends on the type of dress - are you talking about a little sundress - spaghetti straps and cut above the knees, or a full length swilry evening gown, or something in between? You could probably get away with as little as 1 or 1.25 yards for a little shift. On the other extreme, you're probably looking at 6 yards. For something in between, 2.5 - 3 yards is probably safe. The way to hit it perfectly is to look at the specific pattern that you want to have made (or a pattern that is very similar) and find out how much fabric that pattern calls for. (Each pattern has a table on the back that indicates the amount of fabric that it requires.) I got my numbers (above) from the reference cards I got from www.gwynhug.com. These cards don't go down as far as size 2 (they only go to size 6), but I looked at how much the fabric yardage requirement changed as the sizes dropped from 20 to 6 and I extrapolated. Those tables were created by summarizing numbers from over 2,000 patterns, so I think they are pretty good. Good luck! :)

Can chocolate squares be substituted for chocolate chips?

Sometimes, but it depends on what materials are being used exactly. If taking out Baking Chocolate squares, you have to use baking Chocolate Chips, not just average chocolate chips or else the recipe will not be correct. Another view: I've found that choc. chips usually substitute pretty well for chocolate squares. Just keep in mind that most chocolate chips are "semi-sweet" while chocolate squares may be "bitter-sweet" or completely "unsweetened." If the recipe calls for unsweetened squares, your product will turn out rather sweeter than the recipe intends. If you look on the chocolate chip package, you may find the equivalent listed.

What is 6 squares of Semi-Sweet Chocolate?

Baking chocolate comes in conveniently measured amounts called squares (the name comes from the shape) and can be purchased in grocery stores and supermarkets throughout the continent. The chocolate comes in dark or bitter, semi-sweet, sweet and in some areas white. These correspond to the amount of sugar added to the cocoa along with a small amount of fat to make them keep their shape. To use them, you simply break off the number of "squares" your recipe calls for and melt them in a double boiler.
