YES, And depending on the type of engine it can total the engine if it breaks.
It will stop running. It could do major damage to the valve/piston or you could get lucky and it will just need the belt replaced.
1993 is 13 years old timing belt has probly just worn out
No. it is a non-interference motor. If the timing belt breaks, the engine will not be damaged. It will just stop running until it the belt is replaced.
Your 3.0 liter V6 is not an interference engine so it should just stop running
You change the timing belt at 100,000 km. you can do it at 90,000 just to be on the safe side. If it breaks you can bend your valves
It can. It just depends where the parts are when it breaks.
I have a 1998 300 CL and has a timing belt I just had it replace you need to replace yours ASAP before it breaks.
what year ? if it is say 2000 sportage with double overhead cam, possible real damage done, this IS an interference engine. In english, if timing belt breaks while engine is running severe damage can be done to valves, cams, pistons, etc. A $50.00 timing belt could easily cost you now $2500.00 to repair engine. If it just broke sitting still and NOT running, $ 458.00 to fix ,include water pump , it is driven by timing belt.
No, but why in the world would you take the chance? When the timing belt breaks the engine stops right now. It does not care if you are going to be run over by that truck you just pulled out in front of.
It will make no sound, it will just break. When it breaks your engine will stop running. If the engine is an interference engine you will have serious engine damage.
You Don't - It just breaks and blows the engine
all timing marks are on the belts and cams. just line them all up and it will be timed
