No, Jenova is a "calamity from the sky," and not really a being. He/she/it is an alien sent to destroy the planet. Nothing is known about her/his/its past before he/she/it attacked the planet. Also, Edea belongs to Final Fantasy VIII, while Jenova belongs to Final Fantasy VII, two completely different universes.

helll no....edea isn't even the main sorcerer in ff8 ultemicia is....an niether one of them could take jenova.... jenova in her complete form would demolish everything an anything in her way.. u got to remember in ff7 you dont fight jenova in her complete form....its always in parts, jenova life, jenova death jenova rebirth ect.... put her together completely tho an no final fantasy character stands a chance

In Final Fantasy 8 i was fighting Edea and suddenly it said please insert second disc and I don't know how?
The fight with Edea under the Galbadia Archway is the last part of disc 1. I'm not aware if cutscenes can be skipped, so the game might have glitched and missed it. After dealing enough damage to Edea, she'll defeat Squall with a shard of ice through his chest, and then it will ask for Disc 2.

*spoiler alert* The main playable characters (not including Rinoa) and Seifer, were all orphans at the same orphanage, run by Edea (who is still an enemy at that point in the game). Ellone was there too. Everyone had just forgotten about it, it's explained as a side effect of using Guardian Forces. Not being a SeeD, Irvine had less exposure to GFs and was affected by it less, so remembered more of it than the others.
