In animal crossing wild world I put a red turnip outside my house on the dirt but hoping to catch some ants but it isn't rotting so why isn't it rotting?

Red turnips don't rot until a week-in Animal Crossing time- has past, if you want ants, buy a white turnip and let that rot then thrr should be ants on it- don't step on it though or you'll scare them off
