Herobrine is Notch's brother, but he is fake and he can't hurt you. You might see him sometimes when your fog is on. Your friends are probably pranking you and making you nervous when you're alone in minecraft. Herobrine has been removed from the game.

Herobrine is a character from a creepy story, a fictional encounter while someone played the Minecraft game. Despite Mojang playing into the joke by saying they 'removed Herobrine', he never actually existed in the unmodded version of the game. You can examine the contents of the .jar file yourself, to see. As Minecraft is easily modded, there are many Herobrine mods out there to add him into the game. However due to the confusion caused by people reading the story and not understanding the purpose of 'creepypasta', and the update messages added by Mojang, Herobrine is more of an urban legend that people believe truly exists in the regular version of the game.

in regular minecraft you have to "summon" herobrine. in xbox 360 edition you can unupdate the game to summon herobrine but i am unsure if u will ever see him i know you will see burning trees and will find missing torches and stuff and possibly creepy signs in random places. i have not played pocket edition lite but if it is connected in any way to 4j studios then it might have been removed. you can always try summoning herobrine and find out that way.
