Sunlight is the energy source that plants use in order to join together carbon dioxide molecules from the air and water molecules taken up by their roots. They manufacture sugar, which they can then join up in chains to make starch as a food store for later on that day, overnight or save up ready for growth next spring. Energy is released when the stored starch or sugar is respired, ie reacted with oxygen, and the carbon dioxide and water are released again.
Using sunlight energy to make food is called photosynthesis. It is important to realise that the food is made from carbon dioxide and water, and light is the energy required to make this happen. Light is not made INTO food: light is a form of energy and so is not made into stuff. The mass of the carbon dioxide plus the mass of water used will add up to the mass of sugar made. Photosynthesis releases oxygen into the air, which is very useful for us of course - without plants it would not have been possible for animal life to have evolved in the way it happen.
If the plant is a green plant then it has chlorophyll (which is what makes it green) which uses sunlight's energy to convert carbon dioxide into other organic chemicals, which the plant uses for food. In the process it gives off oxygen.
The sunlight converts sunlight energy into chemical energy. Plant chloroplast convert the energy of sunlight into food for the plants.
Photosynthesis doesn't necessarily turn sunlight into food. Rather, it turns carbon dioxide and water into food, using sunlight as the energy to perform this process.
By in process of photosynthesis
because the plant converts the light energy (from the sun) into chemical energy (it's food)
chloroplast through a process called photosynthesis where a plant turns sunlight into sugar (food)
The plant organelles that make food from sunlight are the chloroplasts. Chloroplasts are found in cell of the plant, and contain the pigment chlorophyll, which convert the solar energy into sugar. This sugar is the food for the plant.Organelles called ____________ capture energy from sunlight and use it to produce food for the cell. The answer is chloroplasts. ;)
For a leaf, or any plant, to make food, it needs to go through a process called photosynthesis. In order to photosyntesize, a plant needs sunlight, water, and soil.
A plant will make its own food by taking in sunlight, water, and nutrients from the soil.
Blue bonnets are a plant. Plants get their food from converting sunlight into food. They take in CO2 through their leaves and make a chemical change with the sunlight.
food
Sunlight helps it by giving the plant energy, so it can make food quicker.
Plant cells make food using energy from sunlight. Humans do not.
Sunlight helps it by giving the plant energy, so it can make food quicker.
The chlorophyll in a plant's leaf traps the energy from the sunlight. A plant need carbon dioxide, water and sunlight to produce food.
the plant that gets direct sunlight
Sunlight/energy is made into food for the plant
The type of organelle in a plant cell that uses sunlight to produce food is chloroplasts.
Seaweed is a plant, it makes its food from sunlight.
It makes its own food from sunlight!
An organism that uses sunlight to make food or energy is known as a producer. An example of a producer is a plant. The plant utilizes the sunlight as energy to produce food.
