Yes, in the Episcopal Church can you add more wine to what was consecrated if you are running low. Typically, the priest will consecrate more wine than he anticipates he will need, or he may have some consecrated wine left over from a prior service that can be used.

Do they have Mass in Episcopal Churches?

Because the Catholic Church does not recognize the validity of Episcopal ordinations, their Mass is not celebrated validly and does not fulfill the requirements on the Catholic faithful according to Canon Law. In response to above answer: The Episcopal Church does not have a "Mass". It has a service. More and more the word "Mass" is being applied to the Episcopalian Service. It is a misnomer in the Episcopalian context. Also I'm not sure what's meant by "Catholic faithful" since the Episcopal Church is called The Holy Catholic Church to distinguish it from the Roman one.

What is the difference between a catholic and episcopal priest?

Yes and No. The Roman Catholic Church is not the Episcopal Church, However the Roman Catholic Church is an "episcopal" church. This means that it is a church that is governed by bishops. The term "episcopal" or "episkopos" is simply Greek for Bishop. The Episcopal Church is the American Branch of the Anglican Communion whose mother Church is the Church of England. The Church of England broke ties with the Roman Catholic Church in 1539 under the reign of King Henry VIII. It was later realigned with Rome under the reign of his daughter Mary (AkA Bloody Mary). After Mary's Death Elizabeth the Great took reign in England and the Church in England once again became independent of Rome, this time for good. This became known as The Church of England or The Anglican Church. After the American Revolution the Anglican Church in the United States became independent of the Church of England for obvious political reasons and changed the name to The Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America, aKa The Episcopal Church. Although the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion as a whole are no longer under the leadership of Rome, they retain apostolic succession through the 3 fold ministry of deacons priests and bishops. They also hold strong to the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Eucharist as being the central Sacraments of the Christian faith, necessary for all Christians to participate in. Those other Sacramental rites of the church inspired by the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Confirmation, Reconciliation, Matrimony, Ordination and Unction are also Sacramental but not necessary for all Christians in the same way that Baptism and Eucharist are.

Can an episcopal priest that is married ever become a Catholic priest?

Not in the eyes of the Catholic Church. They do not consider an Episcopal Priest to be ordained in Apostolic Succession, so is therefore a layman (a non-priest like you or I). This is depite Episcopalian (and all priests in the Anglican Communion) being able to trace their succession back through the bishops to the pre-Reformation Church based in Rome.

The Church of England (aka the episcopal church) uses a system of Vicars. I am not certain if any others do or not. Generally Episcopal or Anglican when referring to a parish priest. However there are other usages that apply to the Cahtolic, Orthodox and Lutheran churches. For more information see Wikipedia.org "Vicar"

Where did the name for the episcopal church come from?

The Episcopal Church is the American province of the Anglican Communion. When the Anglican Church came to America, the church was re-named after the American Revolution in order to distinguish itself from the English Church (The Church of England). The Term 'Episcopal' was chosen since the Anglican Church has an 'episcopal' governmental structure. The word 'episcopal' or 'episcopos' is Greek for 'bishop.' Thus all churches that are governed by bishops have an 'episcopal' structure. It seemed like a logical choice of term to identify the new Anglican province in the America's. Thus, the name 'The Episcopal Church' was chosen. However, it's full legal title, which is used on formal documents and resolutions is 'The Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America'However, for the sake of ease, this title is used solely on legal documents and resolutions. In the 1950's there was great debate as to drop the term 'protestant' from the title. The argument was that the Anglican Church came out of The English Reformation as opposed to the Protestant Reformation. The English Reformation, which gave birth to the Anglican Communion, broke ties with Rome over politics, not theology. The Protestant Reformation, which was started by Martin Luther, began as an uprising due to theological corruption in the Roman Church. Ultimately the resolution was passed, and the term 'protestant' was dropped from the title. Currently, the church is known best as just 'The Episcopal Church'. ---- ; Main Entry : epis·co·pal ; Pronunciation : \i-ˈpis-kə-pəl, -bəl\ ; Function : adjective ; Etymology : Middle English, from Late Latin episcopalis, from episcopus bishop - more at bishop ; Date : 15th century 1: of or relating to a bishop2: of, having, or constituting government by bishops3capitalized : of or relating to The Episcopal Church representing the Anglican communion in the United States

Are the United Methodists closer theologically to the Episcopal Church or the Baptist Church?

There are many different kinds of Baptists, ranging from the more liberal in their theology to much more conservative. Generally speaking, the United Methodist Church would probably have more in common theologically with the Episcopal Church than with most Baptist congregations.PERSONAL ANSWERI assume the questioner is in the United States, but I can only speak from my own experience here in Australia. In Australia, the Methodist Church and the Presbyterian Church amalgamated to form the Uniting Church [equivalent to United Methodists in America], while the Church of England in Australia was renamed as the Anglican Church [or Episcopal Church in America].I was a member of the Anglican Church here in Australia [or Episcopal Church in America] but left it and am now a member of a Baptist Church because of the stance of the other churches about Homosexuality. The Bible is against Homosexuality [but don't get me wrong: God is not against homosexuals who have repented.], so the issue of Homosexuality is a Theological Litmus test of whether or not one believes and obeys God. If you disobey or re-interpret God on this issue you will also do it on other theological issues as well.In Australia, the Uniting Church accepted it, the Anglican Church neither accepted or rejected it but left it up to the individual, while the Baptist Church was definitely against it. Accordingly, to answer the specific question, the United Methodists are closer theologically to the Episcopal Church, but it is only a matter of degree: I would personally recommend people leave both.
