The War of 1812 was the USA versus England. England kept taking USA sailors off American ships and impressing (drafting) them to fight a War against Napoleon and France. We declared War on England and lost most of the battles, except the Siege of Ft. McHenry, Baltimore Maryland the Battle of New Orleans and a few other battles. The British burned Washington DC to the ground (After the Americans burnt a British city in Canada to the ground first). The USA signed a Peace treaty with England, but, for the most part, it was a War in which the USA had a tendency to get beaten by the English. We got our National Anthem from the War; The Star Spangled Banner, by American lawyer Francis Scott Key. However, it is a War that most Americans would like to forget.

No, the revolutionary war was fought in the 1700's and the war of 1812 should be self explanatory. Yes, they were both fought for the same reason; Britain didn't want the U.S. to be independent. (side not:during the war of 1812 the white house was burned down)
