It sounds like a collapsed pipe. The makeshift hole sounds like an old repair. You may need to replace the line. There are some companies that may be able to run a push rod camera in the line to find the damage. First however try using a cutter snake to clear the line so the camera can see the damage.

I'm not sure if there are any kitchen products, even industrial strength ones that could help with heating up a basement. You are best to use a product specifically designed for the job in question.
