The father named the fox Bandit because he was going around to people's farms and barns and eating the chickens and eggs.
The Father
In the story "Last Cover," they were trying to find Bandit because he was critical to the success of the mission. Bandit was an expert in navigating the dangerous territory, and without him, they risked getting lost or captured by the enemy.
Father disapproved of keeping Bandit as a pet because he saw Bandit as a dangerous wild animal who could harm their family. He believed that Bandit belonged in the wild and would be happier living freely in nature rather than being kept in captivity. Additionally, Father was concerned about the safety of his family and did not want to take the risk of having a potentially unpredictable animal around them.
Bandit hides in the swamp so that the dogs cannot smell him.
The short story The Last Cover is about a fox named Bandit who is lost, and Colin and Stan, the two brothers who go looking for him. However, they do find him, but not alone. Bandit is with a female fox, and so they decide to leave Bandit in the woods where they found him. However, Bandit has also been stealing chickens from farmers, and so hunters go looking for him at night. In the end, Bandit dies.
To show that Colin and Stan were letting Bandit go and be the wild animal their Father told them he would eventually be. Colin and Stan understood that Bandit couldn't be their pet forever and that they couldn't protect him any longer.
Bandt is dead , he was shot. Bandt is dead , he was shot.
The Last Cover is about a fox named Bandit, Collin, and Stan. Collin and Stan are both brothers. Their pet fox runs away and Collin and Stan look for him. Eventually, they both find Bandit with another female fox. Since Bandit sole chickens from farmers, he is being looked for and... at the end... he dies :(
In the last cover, Colin is an artistic boy who helped care for the fox with his brother, Stan. They are very different, Colin is little and scrawny while Stan is tough and strong. Colin also paints to get his anger and sadness out when bandit, their pet fox, is going to be killed. Colin's father isn't proud of Colin at the beginning of the story because he paints, but at the end all three, Father, Stan, and Colin become very close. I hope this answered your question!
