The US is not a democracy because, the president is not elected by the majority of public votes, but by electoral college votes. There are cases when the candidate winning the majority of the polled votes was not declared elected, but the candidate who lost majority votes was.
neither. The US is NOT a Democracy, but a representative Republic. In a Democracy the minority is not protected from the majority. This is often illustrated with the metaphor that a democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner. The laws in the US are created by the congress, approved by the President, and validated to be constitutional by the Supreme Court in a delicate system of checks and balances.
In a democracy you have majority rules. The can make whatever law they want because they have no constitution or charter to limit them. The USA doesn't have a democracy. It has a federal constitutional republic which is supposed to rule based on the constitution. It's meant to be limited by what the constitution allows.
In theory, The People. However, the US is slowly moving precariously from a Republic to a Democracy where the will of the majority takes precedence over the "rule of law." In such a form of government, the majority is in a better position to subjugate the minority.
Of course, this will vary by person, but my view is that the central idea of American democracy is the view that although the will of the majority must be pursued, it cannot violate the needs and rights of the minority.

No, the US has a representative democracy.
Democracy continues in the United States of America because it is basically Majority Rulesand this rule is very fair and just. This is simply why we we still use democracy in the United States of America.
Democracy Is a form of government In which the supreme power Is held completely by the people via free elections. In a pure democracy the majority always wins and can persecute the minority. In a democratic republic, like the US, there is a constitution and certain rights which can not be abridged even by a majority vote.Democracy is a form of government in which people have a voice in the exercise of power , typically through elected representatives
It's never been fully democratic. A pure democracy form of government is where every citizen that meets the requirements set forth by the government votes on every topic/bill/issue/etc. The United States follows the representative form of democracy.
