From Islamic perspective,

the three holy books are God revelation to His prophets (peace upon them). The three holy books are similar in:

  • calling for the same basic morals that are important for people to adopt to live in peace, harmony, and love in communities with different faiths and cultures. Examples of such morals are don't kill (without right or authority), don't steal money or others property, don't lei, don't cheat, ... etc.,
  • calling for worship of one and only one God (although in The Bible only one is believed in but considered of Trinity nature) ,
  • believing in day of judgment and after death life,
  • believing in angel, and
  • believing in God prophets (although not all of them are believed in by the Bible and/or the Torah)

Why is religion such a major factor in culture?

Becasue most societies in a certain culture base their life decisions on their religion, such as Hindus following the way of their gods; Muslims following the way of Allah and the Quran; Christians and Catholics following the way of the Bible; Jews following the Torah, etc.

Are Hindus people of the book?

No, Hindus are not considered "people of the book" in the same way that followers of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are. The term "people of the book" refers to those who follow Abrahamic religions and have a holy book (Torah, Bible, or Quran) as the central religious text. Hinduism does not have a single holy book but rather a vast collection of scriptures known as the Vedas, Upanishads, and various others.

What is meant by the term Halaal certified ingredients?

The term "Halaal" is a Muslim term, which is to Muslims what "Kosher" is to the Jewish. Muslims have a particular way of slaughtering animals for consumption, which is based on their religious beliefs. If the animals are not slaughtered and prepared according to their Bible (Quran or Koran), then they consider it unfit to eat. This is similar to the Jewish ways of eating only "kosher" foods. I believe both of these terms are from the New Testament of the Bible and Quran/Koran.

Does the Quran talk about the way Muhammad lived?

Quran talked only about some aspects of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) life that could be guides to Muslims. Quran is real God words as revealed to prophet Muhammad and not containing historical chapters written by some followers as in the Bible.

Did Obama plan to send copies of the Quran to people working in government jobs?

I cannot find anything about this in the news. However, Obama is not Muslim and there would be no reason for him to send copies of the Quran. By the way, in 2006 a senator (not Obama) did pose with a copy of Thomas Jefferson's Quran. This was after being sworn in using a Bible.
