In what ways does using the sociological perspective make us seem less in comtrol of your lives and does it give us greater power over your surroundings?

A sociological perspective makes you aware of the many social forces that act upon you. It makes you feel less isolated and more exposed to social variables that you can't control. The dark side of existentialism (suicides) are sometimes used as an example of the anxieties lived by an individual and his vulnerabilities and limited role in society.
A sociological perspective doesn't have to give you a negative view of your place in society necessarily and instead you may focus on changing society on a positive way even in limited way. Or you may develop leadership qualities that help you affect change in a larger way.
Finally, a sociological perspective doesn't make you a biologist with darwinistic objectivity. You may retain your individuality and subjectivity the same way that a scientist has religion and even support minority theories like Creationism.

Sociological PERSPECTIVE: How we view social phenomena. Several sociological perspectives exist. A few examples. When I think of sociological perspective, C. Wright Mills comes to mind first. The "Sociological Imagination" describes a sociological mindset in regards to being able to connect individual experiences and societal relationships. Emile Durkheim believed that individuals influence our behavior. His "Suicide" studies showed suicide as a functional part of societal integration. Groups take on characteristics independent of their members (the whole is greater than the sum of its parts). There's also Cooley's "Looking glass self" in which an individual gains identity through how they are perceived by society.
