Animals can move from one area to another and can cover a distance ranging from a few feet to many miles. Plants are however rooted to the ground and in most cases, they can only grow towards the direction of a light source. They have to be transplanted if they are to change locations.

Plants can do something that animals and humans cannot. They can make food inside of their bodies. They take in carbon dioxide from the air through the holes in their leaves, and water through their roots. They live using sunlight, carbon dioxide, and nutrients, making their own food through the process of photosynthesis. In contrast, animals live by eating other organisms (plants, animals, bacteria, or even bits and pieces of dead organisms.) Here is the similarities: Humans and animals need sunlight, air, and nutrients in order to survive. Plants need those too.
