The Treaty of Versailles caused World War II. This treaty took away Germany's land, money, livestock, and Natural Resources, which forced their trading and population to decline. It also set limitations on Germany's army, forcing them to have a much smaller army. This led to the rising of Adolf Hitler and the German Nazis, who eventually started World War II.

The treaty of Versailles caused great tension in Europe. One of these tensions was that Germany took a while to recover. This meant that it was no longer a trading partner to Britain. The prime Minister of Britain (David Lloyd George) at the time feared a harsh treaty would provoke future German revenge. He believed Germany could become a valuable trading partner for Britain and the rest of Europe.

He was also worried that communism might take over Germany if it was left weak and discontent because of the treaty.

Above all, he wanted to keep Germany satisfied so that it wouldn't cause them to start another war.

What do the Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations have in common?

Both were intended to prevent future wars, and both failed. The Treaty of Versailles did not prevent Germany from waging war. On the contrary, it added fuel to the fire and helped to create an environment for the Nazis to gain power. The League of Nations was supposed to police the world and stop unjust wars, but it was powerless to stop Japanese and Italian aggressions. The Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations seemed like good ideas at the time, but they did not work.
