Samuel is the son of Hannah, and as he got him after a long time , she had promised God that if God did give her a son she would give him to serve in the temple , and she did so when the boy was small, it was under Eli that called Samuel to be a prophet.

It goes on to God's curse on Eli and his family in 1 Samuel 2:27-36 He dies in 1 Samuel 4:18 when he hears the news that both his sons died in battle. It ends in 1 Kings 2:7 when the followup to the curse comes true during the time of King Solomon, many years later.
