There is an excellent video and discussion at http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headlightfix/index.htm They also give some diagnostic answers.

Copy and paste this link into your browser. http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headlightfix/ It will give you all the info you need for replacing the headlight motor. I would suggest purchasing the CNC milled metal gear, as the gear that comes stock with the headlight motor is nylon and has a tendency to get stripped.

If you are looking for the 3rd gen they are two blue loops of wire on the harness that is just below the master cylinder on the wheel well.

Does your Firebird have a Chevy or Pontiac motor in it?If it is a Pontiac motor, you will need an adapter from Summit or Jeg's.Also, it could be a different output shaft length and spline count.

can you clean a egr valve on a 1995 pontiac firebird with a 3.,4 litre motor

The 1986 Firebird came with either a 2.8L V6 or a 5.0L V8

The gears in your headlight motor are actually grinding. My 2000 firebird did that. I just replaced the headlight motor. You can get replacement motors at pretty much any autopart store for around $50.00.

The 1986 Pontiac Firebird fan relay switch can be found on the back of the fan motor. The relay switch is connected to the fan motor by two retaining screws.

Between 165 and 225 depending on exactly which model. http://www.thirdgen.org/1987-pontiac-firebird

Don't replace the headlight motors, you'll only be wasting your money. Instead, just rebuild them by buying the headlight motor rebuild kit. Check out these links. http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headlightfix/ http://www.rodneydickman.com/index.html

you can put a blower on nearly any motor

It is behind the Harmonic balancer at the bottom pulley on your motor.

Try "Hemmings Motor News" either online or at your local news stand.

Change the motor. These cars are notorious for this.

My 1992 Fire Bird has a 305 throttle body fuel injected.

it will fit. you will have to use camaro frame mounts.

should be on the driver side, right under the vin number.

No you do not , But it's one hell of a job to get off.

If it is a Pontiac 350, any hei distributor out of any size Pontiac motor up to 1979 will work.

This site has a step by step guide for an older Firebird, but it is identical to what you need for a 2001. http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html
