I believe you're talking about automotive repossession. As a "repo man" they are reclaiming property owned by the bank not YOU. Until you have paid a car off it does not belong to you. The same goes for a repossession by court order due do unpaid debts (Such as back taxes and credit card bills). The court has ruled that those possessions are thereafter to be turned over to the person collecting on the debt.
A repossession agent is licensed to do his job and to LEGALLY reclaim the property. Now this doesn't men they should be peeking in your homes windows, But they are not trespassing. They have the legal right to be there as an employee of their company which has been given consent to retrieve it by the debt collector.
So long as they are going about their job it is not an invasion of any kind. Only if they were peering into or illegally entering your home/garage is it illegal. Even then if they saw it inside the garage (from off property when garage door was open or it was driven in) It may still be considered legal.
Pay your bills or let them take it. Fighting them is a felony (I believe, just like a bus driver taxi driver, locksmith etc). Trying to cause a legal battle will only make you look foolish.
Invasion of Your Privacy was created on 1985-06-13.
if a landlord bugs my apartment, is that an invasion of privacy?
No invasion of privacy. The telescope aims at the stars in space and not at objects on Earth.
Are they any invasion of privacy suits
No. In order for a person to repo a vehicle, it has to be visible from the street, and it can't be occupied. This would be an invasion of privacy. NO WAY!!! First, he cannot go into your garage. He cannot block you in. He cannot tow the car with anyone inside. If this was done, call the police and an attorney. File charges and sue the idiot. You will win.
Market research and advertising are an invasion of privacy and independent thinking.
