Did the French invented French toast?
Yes, the French did invent French toast they also invented French Fries. Ans. 2 The French might well have invented French Fries had not the Belgians beaten them to it. It is noteworthy that although frites are the most popular way of eating potatoes in France, the French are always willing to give credit to the Belgians for them. On the other hand, the French have no desire to take credit for "French Toast". They did not invent it, or name it, they do not eat it and there is no word for it in French, except possibly 'degeu'. It probably came from the USA, but no-one there wants to take the blame credit for it either.

What is the English translation of the French phrase 'des Belges'?
"Of the Belgians" or "some Belgians" may be English equivalents of the French phrase des Belges. Specifically, the word des can be a plural partitive which means "some". Or it can be the word des, which combines the preposition de ("of") with the feminine/masculine plural definite article les ("the"") to mean "of the". The feminine/masculine adjective/pronoun belges translates as "Belgians". Whatever the meaning or use, the pronunciation always will be "dey behlzh" in French.
Asked in French Fries
Are french fries a part of the French culture?
No, they're Belgium. Pommes frites (which is the french name for french fries) were certainly invented by the Belgians over 300 years ago. That doesn't prevent them from being very much a part of French culture. Hamburgers, french fries and apple pie were all invented in Europe, but they are all as American as . . . apple pie.
