A decent violin is not going to be cheap. Even used violins can cost in the thousands of dollars. Musical Instruments do not depreciate in value like electronics and other items. An electric violin can have new parts added and be as good as new.
I hope this helps!!
when u get money

Usually, a cheap violin does not sound as good as a more pricey one, but if you are just starting, then it might be a good idea. Remember to make sure you are getting the right size!
southwest strings by cheap i mean around $200 which is relatively cheap for a violin and they are good quality at southwest strings. Anything less than that at any other place will probably be bad quality. I bought my vioin for around $100 and Vivace Music Store and the quality is quite good. I used it for 3 years now, and it's still in very good shape.
The violin I am using now was $2,000 when I bought it five years ago and was bought to get me through high school. The cheapest violin I've ever bought was $100. It was my first violin so its tone was not good and it was very hard to tune. To get a good quality violin, it usually cost $1000-$5000. It just kind of depends on whether you're looking for a violin for a beginner, intermediate, or advanced person.
In the UK, we have sites called Freecycle. You put in your request, say' Wanted, violin in the Greater Toronto are, post it and within the next day or two, someone has one. Don't you have a similar one in Canada?
