my first reaction was yes it is,, but how big is your yorkie generally??? yorkies weight does vary from 4lbs-9lbs. Also is your yorkie a purebred or a crossbreed as this would determine it's adult size. Does your yorkie have difficulty walking or shortness of breath?? Yorkies appetites very from dog to dog some are fussy eaters others will eat whatever is put in front of them. My Yorkie is 8lbs and is very healthy and has mad 5 minutes then at other times like to curl up for a nap. so your yorkie's weight might slow down once he/she stops growing and starts having mad 5 minutes.

Generally if there are no outward signs of ill health, they have a good appetite and your vet is pleased with their condition then i dont think you have anything to worry about, one last thought have you had your yorkie neutered as this may make them more likely to put excess weight on but this is more likely in later life!!

Correction: Not for a larger bred dog it's not! How large were the sir and dame (daddy & mommy )?

It also depends on if it's purebred or a "Toy" and "Teacup" breed. Toys and Teacups are not pure-breeds, but are actually the runts being bred down to make them small. The Toy and Teacup breed is unhealthy and do not have the same lifespan as a Purebred Yorkshire. My Yorkshires will range from 3-7lbs. They are Pure German lines, unlike the impure breed being sold stateside. You have nothing to worry about. It's just a large Yorkshire. If you suspect your Yorkshire is eating too much then regulate their eating habits. Ask you Vet if they think any health issues may be involved. It's not true if they are fixed that they eat more and are heavier. Any Dog can eve if they are fixed or not. Trust a breeder of purebred lines. Your baby is fine!!!
