the 270 win. is an excellent gun for any species of big game in North America enough to put down a bear or elk but able to make those long shots on whitetails and mullies. good all purpose gun. also good for varmits
The .270 Winchester is a great rifle for medium sized game such as white tailed deer and wild hogs. It can be used for larger game like Elk however a larger caliber (.30 or larger) is preferred. The .270 is a necked-down 30-06 meaning that the powder charge is the same however the bullet is a smaller diameter which allows it to have a flatter trajectory. Personally I love the .270 especially at very long distance.
A Savage. It is very reliable and light weight.
Yes
It's the caliber of the cartridge it fires.
Good rifle, good caliber for most uses. Did you have a specific question?
Uses .277 bullets
270
The .270 has MUCH more energy than the 30-30.
Impossible to answer with the maker's name and the serial number.
100-500 USD
Generally speaking, no. You can only fire the caliber for which the gun is chambered. There are some exceptions, but not many.
General rule of thumb is that the best caliber is the one which best suits you. Of the two, .270 would be the more powerful round. Both are substantial for hunting something like deer, although the .243 is probably better suited for the experienced hunter, whereas the .270 would be a little more forgiving to the novice hunter. The .270 is a necked down .30-06, and the .243 is a necked down .308.
You have a browning a-bolt rifle chambered in .270 winchester caliber.
Some law enforcement agencies have used the .270 as a sharpshooter's weapon, but it was never military issue.
I can say that i shot a fine Antelope buck with my 270Win caliber rifle at 403 paces in Wyoming.I have seen this caliber make many kills from that distance on in to 35 yards. It all depends on the game animal hunted, and most important your rifle skills.
