What does the maintenance schedule in your owners manual say? Different manufactures have different recommendations. Some list 36,000 miles all the way up to 100,000 miles. My personnel opinion is to change the fluid at 36,000 miles. It for sure does not hurt to change it even if the manufactures list a longer period of time. Just make sure you use the exact type fluid that is recommend by Pontiac. Also change the filter if it is accessible. Some GM transmissions are sealed for life and require no maintenance at all. Those type will not even have a dipstick to check the fluid level. If that is your case, I would call a GM dealer and ask their opinion, on fluid changes. Your owners manual is your best source of information on all maintenance items.
Drain then change the filter.
We first remember that 18% is a decimal.,18/100, which can be written as the decimal 0.18. If we multiply this by 75000, we get 13500. This is 18% of 75000.

I always had an oil change shop do mine, but I do know that the filter was behind the engine on the passenger side of the car. You have to get to it from under the car and probably with a filter wrench. If you end up changing it yourself, please remember to use jackstands, not the jack, to support the car. Safety first!

Not too much to do. Change the spark plugs first, check or change the air filter, change the oil and filter, grease whatever joints that have the nipples, check or change the Ign. wires. Also the fuel filter. That's about it.
