Romeo and Juliet can be referred to as tragedy or comedy. The scene where Mercutio dies is the main turning point from comedy to tragedy. Before the death of Mercutio there are many jokes and funny business, after the death it suddenly changes and it all becomes serious. In the Leonardo di Caprio version of the film after Mercutio's death the sky turns dark and the music becomes more dramatic. Romeo and Juliet is one of the confusing play that Shakespeare wrote which can be viewed in two ways.

It is definatley a tragedy. Any play in which the main characters die and there is a lot of grief at the end, it is a tragedy.

Cyrano is more of a romantic comedy due to Cyrano's great amounts of wit and intelligence as well as his passion for Roxanne. There are many parts in this play that are very funny and parts that are very melancholy as well. Cyrano can be a bit of a bully at times and as sad as it sounds, those parts are pretty funny in the play. Even though Cyrano is very boastful, he is also very kind, passionate, a poet, a grand sworsman, and so many other great things. But unfortunately, he is extremely unattractive which holds him back from telling Roxanne that he loves her. On the contrary, Christian is very hansome but doesnt have all the wonderful qualities that Cyrano has- and ofcourse Roxanne falls in love with him. During the play things get very funny. For example, when Christian tries to go on his own by telling Roxanne that he loves her, that was all that he could say. She then blew him off, and he didnt know what to do. Then Cyrano steppped in (acting as Christian) and played with all the words portraying all his love for her. In turn, Roxanne fell in love with the words and then married Christian.
