I would definitely not call it a third world country, but it hasn't quite yet gotten to the level of a first world country (it's getting there, though). I think that most people would classify it as a 2nd world country.

No. Austria is a first world country. First world: modern, developed western nations; second world: modern, developed (former) Soviet bloc nations; third world: everybody else, poor, undeveloped nations.
