BS 1387 is UK Standard and ANSI/ASTM are American Standards; both deals in the specifications of Steel or Alloy pipes sizes, BORE, WALL THICKNESS, chemical composition, and manufacturing process.

Both are standard in manufacturing and material process specifications.

For example;

ASTM A 53-90b Carbon-Steel Pipes, Welded (F & E Types) or SEAMLESS (S Type) Grade A & B

BS 1387 Medium (Class B) can be the equivalent etc...etc...
