On Mr. Obama's mother's side, there are indeed some distant relatives (from his great-great-great-great grandfather's family) who were Irish, and when the president visited Ireland in 2011, the descendants of that distant relative, whose name was Falmouth Kearney, were delighted to finally meet him. His real name is of course Obama (without the apostrophe) and his ancestry is African and American.
