Yes, she was born to Silas M. Parker and Lucy Parker in Crawford County, Illinois. In May 19, 1836 she was about 9 and was captured by Comanche, Kiowa and Kichai raiders in Fort Parker, Texas were her family lived.

Eventual she was given the Comanche name "Nauta," meaning "someone found" or "Keeps Warm With Us".

She became Comanche was adopted by a couple and forgot most of her English. She married Peta Nocona, a chieftain, and had three children. The most famous was Quanah Parker. Another son named Pecos (Pecan), and a daughter named Topsannah (Prairie Flower).

At age 34 she was "rescued' by the Texas Rangers. She spent the last 10 years of her life refusing to adjust to life in white society. At least once she escaped but was brought back.
