The Gaza Strip is a de-facto independent territory. The organization Hamas controls all domestic activities in the area, regardless of the Israeli and Egyptian blockade of the territory. De jure it is supposed to be under the control of the Palestinian Authority, but the Palestinian Authority has not actually been in power in the Gaza Strip since 2007.
