However, Israel has a de jure state of war with Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen as a result of not signing any proper peace accords with them since 1948. (A de jure state of war results when no treaty ending a war has been signed. For example, the United States and the Second Reich of Germany were at war from 1917-1921 in a de jure sense because even though the Armistice was signed in 1918, no American-German Treaty was ratified until 1921.) Israel additionally controls the occupied territories, which is seen as some as act of war. If this is true, then the Pakistani, Indian and Chinese occupations of parts of Jammu and Kashmir should also be considered acts of war since they are controlling disputed territories with different ethnicities than those of the country at large.
