- A phony "news" video from The Onion - an over-the-top joke news program that is intended purely for laughs. It was humorous, satirical "fake news." Many people don't understand "parody" and took it seriously. But it was just a joke.
- A man in Florida, also named Justin Bieber, was 35 years old (or older), and reported receiving substantial fan mail intended for the young singer.
- One or more videos showing an older man lip-syncing a Bieber song.
