The "Paradise" in question was Jesus' reply to the thief's plea to Him to remember him:

"...when you come into your Kingdom." (verse 42)

The age-old argument among men of the placement of the punctuation around the word "today" seems to have superceded the context of what was being said. The punctuation [which was added when the original manuscripts were translated] takes care of itself when the subject of their conversation is understood.

The remote possibility of entering into the Kingdom of God was the thief's concern. Evidently, he had heard Jesus' speak to the crowds at some time in the past... and he heard [and believed] Jesus' message about the "good news" [gospel] of the coming Kingdom that He will establish on earth, according to the prophecies.

While the world, today, remains blinded to the Truth of Jesus' message to mankind regarding His coming Kingdom... the thief grasped it in his mind and heart, and BELIEVED IT! He was talking about WHEN JESUS WOULD ENTER INTO HIS KINGDOM that the thief humbly asked Jesus to "remember him."

And WHEN did Jesus enter into His Kingdom? HE HASN'T DONE IT YET! It's still a future event that awaits Jesus' return. The THRONE of Jesus' Kingdom is King David's THRONE, which used to be in Jerusalem.

"...call His name Jesus. He shall be Great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the LORD God shall GIVE UNTO HIM THE THRONE OF HIS FATHER DAVID..." (Luke 1:31-32 KJV).

Jesus Christ is coming back to re-establish David's throne in Jerusalem... to restore God's Kingdom to the earth! But it hasn't happened yet.

So, neither Jesus nor the thief were in the "Paradise" of the Kingdom of God THAT DAY! That day... they BOTH DIED AND WERE BURIED!

And to THIS DAY... neither Jesus nor the thief is in Christ's Kingdom, yet.

So, the punctuation of the passage should be such that it should not be interpreted to mean that Jesus and the thief were both in Christ's Kingdom on THAT VERY DAY OF BOTH OF THEIR DEATHS... they couldn't be because they were both dead. But that Jesus put the Humble, Faithful, Believing thief's mind to rest regarding the future time when Jesus would establish His throne and Kingdom on earth [a time yet future to us, today], in Jerusalem, the place from whence David ruled:

"I solemnly say to you this very day, YOU WILL BE IN PARADISE [the Kingdom of which you speak] WITH ME."

Your nephew david is a lawyer is this sentence punctuated properly?

No, the sentence should be punctuated as follows: "Your nephew, David, is a lawyer." The commas set off the name "David" because it is additional information about which nephew is being referred to.

Who did Jesus tell that he would be with him in paradise?

This can be found in Luke 23. The day of Jesus' crucifixion he was not the only one being crucified. There were two thieves there as well. They were on either side of Jesus and they were brothers. The first brother rebuked Jesus, mocking him saying, "Aren't you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!". The second brother however rebuked his brother. Saying that Jesus did nothing wrong and did not deserve this punishment, but they were thieves and they did. He then to Jesus said "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.[d]" Jesus replied to him saying "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise." The 2nd thief truly believe that Jesus was the son of God, and because of his belief and faith in Jesus, Jesus told him that he would be in heaven with him after they both died.

Why does Jesus save the two men crucified before He dies?

Regardless how you read the particular Scripture it never says He saved one or both men. It is traditionally translated this way, Luke 23:43New King James Version (NKJV) 43" And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." or what some consider the correct idiomatic expression of Jesus' day as, "I say to you today, you will be with Me in Paradise." The placing of the comma is a more recent event as the original writings did not use them. Also, Jesus knew and gave as His only sign of His being the Messiah as the sign of Jonah being 3 full days and 3 full nights in the belly of the great fish. Jesus was in the tomb for 72 hours before being seen early during the dark hours of Sunday. So 'today' could not happen at a minimum.

As Jesus descended to the dead does that mean Hell is paradise when he said truly i say to you today you will be with me in paradise?

The phrase "descended into Hell" in Christian belief refers to Jesus' journey to the realm of the dead, not to Hell as a place of punishment. The statement "today you will be with me in paradise" signifies Jesus' promise of salvation to the repentant criminal, indicating that they would be together in heaven. This shows Jesus' ability to grant redemption and offer hope of eternal life.
