Compared to other developing countries, yes. Mexico has a R&D spending equivalent to that of countries like Singapore, Poland or Turkey (approximately US$6.4 billion during 2011).

Most advances are located within chemical and civil engineering, veterinarian medicine or agriculture. Mexico also has several research centers related to other technologies like aerospace, astrophysics, nuclear engineering or Nanotechnology. These however, are in much smaller scale than their counterparts found in industrialized nations.
