To whom? The United States? It is one of the remaining partners purchasing "Made in USA" products, just second to Canada. It is also one of the largest providers of imports for the US market, after China and Canada.

Mexico is not a small, unpopulated, backward country. It is regarded as an Emerging Market, with an ongoing industrialization process and considered the 11th largest economy in the world. Many items consumed in the United States are manufactured in Mexico, such as plasma TVs, refrigerators or motor vehicles. Also a large part of US oil imports come from Mexico.

In fact, according to some sources (see related links), 40% of every import from Mexico is actually produced in the United States. This means unlike other countries like China, Mexican imports actually increase the number of jobs in the United States.

Mexico is the eleventh largest economy in the world, with a Gross Domestic Product of US$1.66 trillion (2012). It is also the eleventh in terms of population with more than 114 million people for 2012, thus allowing Mexican exports to be not only raw materials such as oil or silver, but also manufactured goods and even high-technology products, including assembled aircraft, pharmaceuticals, communications equipment, and computer and office machinery, which represent 19.6% of total Mexican exports.

Mexico is also one of the countries with most trade agreements in the world, having 12 free trade agreements with over 40 countries including North and Central America, the European Free Trade Area and Japan, putting more than 90% of its trade under free trade agreements. In terms of exports, Mexico ranks in the 15th position (USD 336.3 billion) while it ranks on the 14th position in terms of imports (USD 341.9 billion)
