PEZ is a candy and the brand name of an Austrian candy manufacturer. PEZ was invented in Vienna in 1927 by Ernst Haas III. The original flavour was mint and the candy took its name from the first, middle and last letters of the German word Pfefferminz(peppermint).
Pez has had great success in America, where it was introduced in 1952.
