No kind of Muslim. This is an internet myth, spread by his political opponents. Barack Obama was raised by his mother and grandparents to be a Christian. He barely knew his father (who while born a Muslim, left the faith); Mr Obama has respect for his Muslim relatives (some of whom he finally met in the late 1980s), but he has never been a Muslim.

∙ 8y agoNo, he is not. This is an old and very tired myth, spread by some conservatives who believe he is a secret Muslim. But he is not, and never was. President Obama was raised a Christian and remains a Christian to this day. He does have some Muslim relatives, but he also has Buddhist, Hindu, Christian and even Jewish relatives. Please do not believe false stories you read online: there is NO evidence that Mr. Obama is a "Muslim sympathizer." He believes everyone in the US should have equal treatment and everyone should have freedom of religion.
