Russia is a transcontinental country extending over much of northern Eurasia (Europe/Asia). When I say transcontinental country, I mean a country that spans over more than one continent. So, in conclusion, Russia is in Asia, but it is also in Europe, thus a transcontinental country.

A portion of Russia is European whilst the majority lies in Asia. The Russian people consist of many different ethnicities including European Slavs and many Asian and Middle Asian peoples.
