Russia is a transcontinental country extending over much of northern Eurasia (Europe/Asia). When I say transcontinental country, I mean a country that spans over more than one continent. So, in conclusion, Russia is in Asia, but it is also in Europe, thus a transcontinental country.

A portion of Russia is European whilst the majority lies in Asia. The Russian people consist of many different ethnicities including European Slavs and many Asian and Middle Asian peoples. As Asia is TECHNICALLY a sub-Continent of Europe it is generally considered an European country, however the answer depends very much on the ethnicity of the Russian asked.
