Mrs. Sarah Palin meets all of the minimum qualifications to become Vice-President or to fill-in for/replace John McCain as President (if elected). http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761571294/President_of_the_United_States.html It's up to the voters to decide whether she has enough qualifications. After the first debate with the Democratic VP, a CNN poll reported 42% found her qualified compared to 87% for Joe Biden (see Related Links). A CBS poll on knowledge of important issues found 43% viewed Palin as knowledgeable versus 98% viewing Biden as such (see Related Links). No she does not hold any qualifications to become president or even vice president. And to think john mccain has a good chance of dying soon, and she would come into presidency is a nightmare. No I do not believe she is qualified to do any political job what so ever. If you do not agree please look up the facts, they are all right there.

The Constitution requires presidents to be natural-born citizens of the United States who are at least 35 years of age and have resided in the United States for 14 years. As a tacit statement of America's commitment to democracy and equal opportunity, the Constitution gave any free white male citizen of the country the opportunity to become president. All males gained the right to become president in 1870 when the 15th Amendment to the Constitution gave African Americans the right to vote. Women were excluded from running for the office until 1920, when the 19th Amendment to the Constitution gave them the right to vote. ---- If Sarah Palin was not qualified John McCain would not have picked her. ---- does qualify mean capablility to run the country?

America has a nasty record of choosing presidents on character than actual ability, and it's taking them done quite a bit, but we're fine here in Canada.

Yes. If she wasn't, she never would have been chosen as a candidate for Vice President (at any time that the President dies or is unable to fulfill the office's duties, they pass to the Vice President, so they have the same qualifications as the President).

The most major qualifications are:

be a natural born citizen of the United States,

be at least thirty-five years old,

have been a permanent resident in the United States for at least fourteen years, and

has not already been elected for president twice (or served for at least two years of another President's term and then was elected once).

Sarah Palin qualifies on all counts, no question.

Note that nothing says the President has to be a man, even though no women have yet been elected President or Vice President.

Probably not. Polls showed she would lose to Obama if she faced him in an election. They also show she isn't really popular among Republicans - and it's been dropping over time. She also hasn't been making much effort to campaign in places like New Hampshire and Iowa where the race kicks off.

Because the Democrats won the 2008 election.

Is the vice president of the US a girl?

No. The current Vice President of the United States is Joe Biden. However, nothing would prevent a woman from being Vice President or President. In 1980, Geraldine Ferraro was the Democratic nominee for Vice President, and in 2008, Sarah Palin was the Republican nominee for Vice President.

Did Sarah palin have health care in Canada?

Sarah Palin is American. Alaska is part of the United States not Canada.

Sarah palin nice person does that qualify you to run for president?

NO- you need to have experience on all kinds of issues but to me Sarah Palin IS qualified for President in 2012.Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the Constitution outlines the eligibility requirements to run for the office of President: be a natural born citizen of the United Statesbe at least thirty-five years old;have been a permanent resident in the United States for at least fourteen years.ANYONE who is eligible can run for President but being qualified usually determines if that person will be nominated. Sarah Palin was selected by John McCain as his running mate. But if she intends to declare herself a candidate for President in 2012, she will be required to follow the same procedures her opponents follow. States use either a presidential primary or a series of caucuses and conventions to select delegates. Then, on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November, registered voters cast their ballot for the presidential team of their choice.

How much experience does Sarah Palin have to be a Vice President?

Sarah Palin was governor of Alaska. She has been put through a lot of political slams by the press, and she remains strong. As governor of Alaska, she was voted for many bills regarding drilling for oil in the US. She is well prepared to be vice president of the United States of America.

What are Sarah Palin's best character traits?

Gov. Palin seems to embrace high moral values, common sense and strong leadership abilities. Anyone who can oversee the largest state in the union, as she does with success, is infinitely more qualified to preside over the United States than a 4-year junior Senator from Illinois.

Why did Collin Powell say he is supporting Obama because Palin is inexperienced if she is a Governor and Obama is a Senator?

Colin Powell said Palin was not ready to be president of the United States . That is not the same thing as being inexperienced.- What does he mean when he say she's not ready if he's not saying she doesn't have enough experience???

Is Sarah Palin's husband Todd Palin a member of the United Steelworker's Union?

He's an employee of British Petroleum (BP), an oil company. BP's oil drillers are under contract with the United Steelworkers Union (USW), so, yes, he is a member of that union. USW, however, supports Obama-Biden for President, not McCain-Palin. ----
