Yes. Strattera is effective in about 60% of patients who take it. This is in comparison with methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta, etc) and Adderall, which are effective in about 85% of the patients who take them. There are advantages to Strattera: It isn't addictive, it can be prescribed with refills, and it works 24 hours a day. There are disadvantages to Strattera: It takes several weeks to reach its maximal effect. There are advantages to the stimulant medications (Ritalin, Adderall, etc): They work almost immediately, they decrease appetite (an advantage in the obese patient with ADD). There are disadvantages to the stimulant medications: They cause decreased appetite (a disadvantage for children who are not overweight), they cause insomnia, they can make the patient jittery, and they don't last all day. Also, they cannot be prescribed with refills, so the patient has to pick up a new prescription at the doctor's office every month.
No medication is effective for dyslexia. Strattera can should only be used for ADD or ADHD.
No, Strattera will not make you Hungary. Its a medication for treating ADD, not a pill to turn you into a country. . . Dumb "donkey"
We checked with the doctor on OTC medicines with Strattera, and we were open for what ever worked best with our children.
No Strattera often makes people tired. I have tryed this medication before(in the 40mg doseing) and i was very tired i also do not have adhd.
I am both a recovering alcoholic and bulimic. I have absolutely no appetite on strattera, so it should not trigger any bulimic behavior. I have just over a year sober and have had no desire to drink since taking the medication. So for me, strattera has not had any negative effect on either affliction. Good luck!
Strattera is specifically for ADD. I wouldn't take the Welbutrin for the ADD. Right church, wrong pew.
Strattera's a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, used to treat ADD or ADHD... opioids are used mainly for pain relief.
My husband swears Strattera has affected my moods (also not for the better). I have been on the medication for three weeks. I am hoping this ebbs or passes entirely, just as the nausea did.
MY 13 YR OLD WAS ON STRATTERA AND I TOOK IT HIM RIGHT OFF IT AND HE HAD NO SIDE AFFECTS WHAT SO EVER. AND YOU SHOULD'NT HAVE ANY SIDE AFFECTS CONSIDERING STRATTERA IS AN ALL NATURAL MEDICATION USED FOR ADHD
Strattera is usually taken for ADD. It can affect appetite, therefore making u lose weight.
Unfortunately many conventional drugs for treating ADD/ ADHD are stimulants and will have a reverse effect on a patient with "overfocused ADD", or RBS (racing brain syndrome). Strattera is an alternative solution. It is an SSRI. You may get positive results from it alone, or in combination with another SSRI, although it is not very common. RBS ADD is a problem of the brain being over-stimulated. Medical marijuana remains the only single medication that provides an adequate solution for RBS.
A child who is on lithium needs to be monitored carefully before starting Strattera. This drug can trigger depression and my not be appropriate for someone who is taking a medication such as lithium.
