Compared to other films, some may find its content to be disturbing. However, scariness is entirely dependent on your personal tastes. Which Means Yes.
Answer
People say "The Exorcist" is a very, very scary movie. Every time they say that I think:......What the hell are they talkin about!? The movie was made in 1973! And the movies that were made before 1980 weren't scary! Think about it, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), The Birds (1963), Night Of The Living Dead (1968), Dawn Of The Dead (1978), And Friday the 13th (1979) weren't scary! And if you didn't watch some of these go to Blockbuster and pick em' up! Trust me you'll be bored watchin' these!
Answer
I bet you haven't even seen it! I have! I ordered the exorcist movie off the internet and trust me it is VERY scary. Usually the facial images and stuff, like when the girl turns around and you see her face for the first time. It isn't a very good movie in my opinion but it won lots of awards and it was banned in lots of countries because the authorities found it too scary for home viewing!
Answer
YES some guys put no up Because they dont want you To Think they are not scared but trust me it is!!
Answer
Yes it is! You would have to be pretty darn tough not to be scared by it. The movie was even banned in 1986 because authorities found it too scary for home viewing.
Answer
Well, I'm a girl, and I'm not at all ashamed to admit when a movie has scared the hell out of me. And I don't think The Exorcist is that scary.
It's not BAD; I mean, it's not completely unscary, like a Wes Craven film. It's just not THAT scary. People always say it's the scariest Horror movie they've ever seen, and I always think, "How many horror movies have you actually seen, anyway?"
There are tons of movies that are way scarier than The Exorcist, in my opinion: Ringu/The Ring, Ju-On/The Grudge, Session 9, The Descent, Trick 'r Treat, Drag Me to Hell , The Strangers, Hostel 1 & 2, John Carpenter's The Thing, The Signal, The Ruins, the original Black Christmas...yet somehow, The Exorcist is the one that British people voted as the Scariest Movie of All Time.
Again, it's not that The Exorcist isn't scary at all. It's just not the scariest movie I've ever seen, not by a long shot.
The only parts I find scary are the quiet moments of dread, when nothing's really happening. Like, when Reagan's mom thinks she hears rats in the attic at the beginning, and goes up to check. Or when she comes home and the house is empty and quiet, and then the lights go out. Those moments are scary.
The parts with Reagan vomiting pea soup, masturbating with a crucifix, attacking her mother, getting thrown around her own bed, writing 'Help Me' on her own stomach, having the exorcism performed on her, freaking out at the doctor's office...even the part where her head spins all the way around. Basically none of the scenes with Reagan in them are scary, in my opinion.
I just don't see what's so scary about a girl with a weak bladder, a foul mouth, terrible skin, and the voice of a man. I see scarier people on the New York City subway system all the time.
Answer
I laughed at The Exorcist. It wasn't scary AT ALL. I don't know why people think it's the scariest movie ever made. The Grudge scared me worse than that.
Answer
Okay, I just watched it, no particular reason, and its bad, really bad.
I'm a girl and I get scared very easily but this movie sucked. Too much talking, and not even scary, I thought it was funny.

This is an opinion: some movies that are scarier to one person are fine for another and vice-versa.

No, it's not scary at all. It's awful. All of the movies in the Exorcist franchise, except the original one, are awful. But The Exorcist 2: The Heretic is one of the very worst.
Watch the 'The Exorcist' first, then work your way around to other types of horror movies.
because its scary
