No, "The Shortest Horror Story Ever Written" by Anthony Horowitz is a fictional story that plays on the theme of brevity and suspense. The story is meant to provoke feelings of unease and fear in a very short amount of text, rather than being based on a true event.

Anthony Horowitz was inspired to write by his childhood. He grew up in a rich family and had a miserable dull life with few friends. His father was always away on business trips which he never talked about, Horowitz tells in some interviews that the people his father was meeting was shadowy and secretive. He recalls that he once had to take a moneybag to one of his fathers contacts, he never knew why he had to do it or why he was getting the money. His mother always told horror stories to Horowitz, she was out a lot and saw new horrors in the cinemas and then retold the story to Anthony. He was a very lonely child and he spent most of his day in his fathers library reading his books. (He was also a huge fan of the James Bond movies) This inspired him to make stories of his own. Anthony wrote multiple children's books, but none of them became a success. He figured that children would like to read "children's fantasies" not a grownup's words, so he sat down and thought about his childhood and let it inspire him to write the Alex Rider series which was a huge success and made him a famous children's novel writer.
The Alex Rider books, written by Anthony Horowitz, are really good, and have made Anthony Horowitz my favourite author. Following the death of his uncle, Ian, Alex Rider, 14, is forced to work for MI6 in a number of different missions, including having to protect all British children from a lethal virus, infiltrating a French boarding school, stopping a Russian madman setting off a nuclear bomb, and tons of other things. On 1 April 2011, there are 9 books, Stormbreaker, Point Blanc, Skeleton Key, Eagle Strike, Scorpia, Ark Angel, Snakehead, Crocodile Tears and Scorpia Rising. I recommend all Anthony Horowitz books to anyone between 8 and 15 years old. The theme is most-likely choice. I think so because Alex first makes the choice to join Scorpia because his father supposedly worked for them. Also because Mrs. Jones, the secretary for MI6 supposedly killed him. He later makes the choice to revert back to MI6 because he learns that it was all a complete setup and he knew it was the right choice.
