I wouldn't use it, if you dont want to go and buy some aspen bedding or other bedding, thenyou could use shredded newspaper i believe
Update: News print causes problems in the digestive system of the small pets 9hamsters, gerbils etc.) if they eat it, and it may cause them to die (I checked this with my vet). And yes, you can use a human toilet paper roll as bedding for a small pet.

∙ 10y agoHamsters need to have materials in their cages to help make their nests out of. Materials that are not harmful for a hamster to use to make their nests from would be plain unscented toilet paper, saw dust, and hamster bedding.

∙ 11y agoNot if that's the ONLY thing he's sleeping on. Also, the hamster might shred the toilet paper if you give it to him. I don't think there would be that big of a health problem, though.

You can put wood shavings in there, they like the smell and feel of them. Make sure you have a wheel, I have had 4 hamsters and they love to Run , Run, RUN ! It can get annoying but its worth it because they are so cute. My hamsters loved toilet paper rolls, they loved to run in those and chew on them, it isn't toxic to them either. Make sure you clean the cage every week, it can get pretty stinky, and it's not healthy for the hammy's lungs, hope you and your hamster are happy together.
