I some states yes but just a few. I ma speaking on the commercial policy side.

Each statute addresses trailers generally clearly. Most are clear it does not apply to trailers. Some states charge a very low % charge such as 15% of the liab. prem.

New Mexico used to require it on trailers but in 2011 changed the statute where no charge is made for trailers.

How much insurance coverage do you need to require from your trailers?

The trailers liability coverage is generally an extension of the vehicle, if you want the trailer to be covered for anything else, a separate policy would be needed.

What to Do If Involved in Accident with Uninsured Driver ?

Uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage is an important type of insurance coverage that all drivers should purchase. The road is an uncertain place, and not all drivers on the road are insured. If you are involved in an accident with an uninsured or underinsured motorist, this type of coverage will kick in and pay your damages and expenses. If you do not have this coverage, your only remedy would be to seek a civil action against the other driver, which can be a hassle as it is a long process that takes a lot of time, money, and patience. Buying this uninsured driver coverage is a good first step to protecting yourself, but what should you do if you are actually involved in an accident with an uninsured driver? You should:Make sure everyone is okay. If there are visible injuries to anyone involved, dial 9-1-1 immediately.Clear the roadway. You want to be sure that no one else is injured as a result of your accident, so moving your car out of traffic as much as possible is important, provided that your state allows you to do so. (In some states, the law prevents moving a vehicle that is involved in the accident before the police arrive).Call the police. Be sure that you wait until the police arrive before leaving the scene. This is important since you will need a police report in order to file a claim with your insurance company. This also insures that the other driver is cited for having no insurance, which is important when filing a claim under your uninsured motorist policy.Exchange information with the other party. Get the other driver's name, address, telephone number, and the make, model, year, and color of the car that they are driving. You should also get their license plate number and if possible, VIN (vehicle identification number). Give the other driver your information, too.Don't admit fault. It is important that you avoid admitting that an accident is your fault, even if you think it is. That determination will be made by the investigating officer in most instances.Seek medical help for yourself and your passengers if needed. Many people don't realize that they are actually hurt until days after an accident. Documenting your injuries now can be important to any claim that might arise from the accident.Call your insurance company and file a claim. Reporting the accident as soon as possible following the accident is also a vital part of the claim process. Most insurance companies provide a 24/7 customer service number so that you can report your accident when it occurs.Following these steps can make it a bit simpler to file a claim under an uninsured motorist policy.

The Importance of Uninsured Motorist Insurance for California Drivers?

Having the right auto insurance is extremely important for all drivers. While the minimum insurance requirements are determined by each state, and provide a decent amount of protection in the case of an accident, many people need additional protection from uninsured or under-insured drivers. This is where California uninsured motorist insurance steps in to provide coverage, even when others are driving illegally or cause more damage than they can cover with their own policy. The Minimum is Not EnoughWhile many states do require a certain minimum insurance coverage to be able to legally drive a vehicle, the reality is that these minimums are often not enough to cover severe property damage, especially if another driver is injured and needs physical therapy. In these cases, the additional money must be paid from the at-fault driver's personal funds. If a driver is running around without insurance or with just the minimums, they likely don't have the money required to pay for medical procedures and vehicle repairs, and the accident victim may be left in the cold without uninsured motorist insurance.Providing Peace of MindWith these tough economic times, more and more people are choosing to drive illegally without the proper insurance, hoping they never get into an accident. Being protected and maintaining peace of mind means more than just driving safely - it means having the proper coverage as well.Accidents happen, and increasing numbers of people are under-insured, especially as the minimum requirements have stayed the same while vehicle and medical costs have increased. In the state of California, uninsured motorist insurance is quite affordable and can mean the difference between paying for a car out of pocket and having a check written to cover all damages.Protecting Property - And LivesDrunk drivers are more likely to lack the proper insurance needed to pay for an accident, and yet are far more likely to cause them. A front-end collision could cause life-threatening injuries, and without the proper insurance, it is possible to get stuck with extremely high medical bills for years after the accident.Uninsured and under-insured motorist insurance helps to ensure that proper medical care is given, and will help to repair or replace a car that is involved in a catastrophic accident.

Drive Legally In Ohio With Proper Liability Coverage?

Carrying a liability insurance policy that meets the Ohio state minimum requirement is a must. Choosing an insurance provider that offers complete protection at an affordable price may take some comparison shopping. When other coverage such as collision protection and uninsured motorist protection are added to the policy, the cost of each coverage type is slightly reduced.Meeting The State Minimum RequirementDrivers in Ohio must carry liability insurance that meets or exceeds the state minimum of 12.5/25/7.5, with the figures representing thousands of dollars. The first figure indicates how much coverage is needed to cover the costs of medical treatments for injured non-fault individuals. The second number is the amount of coverage required to cover all non-fault injuries in a single accident. The third figure represents the amount of coverage needed to cover vehicle and property damage sustained by innocent parties in a single accident. Most insurance experts agree that the Ohio minimum requirements do not adequately cover the insured in the event of a serious auto accident. Taking out a policy that doubles these amounts will not cost twice as much, however. Uninsured motorist protection and PIP are not mandatory in Ohio, but insurance shoppers are advised to see how adding these coverage types affects the final monthly cost to insure the vehicle.Failure To Carry Proper InsuranceIf a motorist is stopped by a law enforcement official and is deemed to be in violation of the state requirement for liability coverage, he or she will face a stiff monetary penalty. The fine may be reduced if the driver has no other moving violations on record and agrees to complete a defensive driving course. If the driver has multiple infractions on record, his or her license may be temporarily suspended until proof of insurance coverage is shown. Those with poor driving records may be declined for liability insurance coverage by a number of providers. In this event the state government has a program that guarantees coverage through one of several insurance partners. The resulting premiums may be very high, but at least the individual has the opportunity to comply with the law.Shopping online for insurance offers individuals the chance to compare rates from several leading insurance companies. The final quotes given will come only after certain information on the individual and the vehicle to be insured has been gathered and analyzed.
